ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday dated in office the hearing of M/s Wateen Telecom Limited’s reference challenging a recovery claim of outstanding tax made by field office of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the matter.

M/s Wateen Telecom Limited had prayed the court that the FBR office had issued a recovery notice to the company which did not hold lawful grounds. The appellant had prayed the court to declare the act as illegal and without any lawful authority and an interim stay may be granted against recovery proceedings.

M/s Wateen Telecom Limited had also mentioned that departmental obligations were not met amid processing the notice of recovery demand while later the adjudication did not addressed grievances

Last month, the court of Justice Aamer Faooq had disposed of a case from M/s Wateen Telecom Limited and barred the Large Taxpayers’ to take coercive action against the appellant aiming at recovering any outstanding amount under the impugned show cause notice.

The court also directed the respondent to hear appellant’s departmental appeal and submit compliance report within 60 days.
