IHC adjourns hearing of tax reference filed by M/s Liberty Power Ltd till Oct. 14

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of Islamabad High Court on Friday adjourned hearing of a tax reference till October 14 filed by M/s Liberty Power Limited.

IHC division bench comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah heard the reference challenging recovery notice of Rs 9,223,769 issued by Large Taxpayers’ Unit, Islamabad.

The bench heard arguments from the appellant and adjourned hearing. The respondent had not presented in the court, however, had sought time from the court to appear and argue on matter.

The appellant had challenged a recovery order of Large Taxpayers’ Unit, issued in May, 2016. LTU had issued the order stating the recoverable outstanding tax amount for the tax period of 2010-2012.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), LTU’s Commissioner Inland Revenue, deputy commissioner Inland Revenue, deputy commissioner Inland Revenue Enforcement and ATIR were made party in the case.

The appellant had prayed the court to set aside the decision announced by ATIR and direct the LTU not to recover any amount taking any coercive action following the show cause notice.
