IHC adjourns hearing of tax references until March 9

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday adjourned the hearing of tax references involving Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and Federal Board of Revenue.

The bench, comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah,  heard the tax references filed against Customs Appellate Tribunal, Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and authorities of the Regional Tax Office and Large Taxpayer’s Unit.

During the course of hearing, the bench heard arguments of both sides on three references, filed by Rani Waseem, carrying the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and officers of Regional Tax Office (RTO) as respondents and directed them to provide all related documents in the matter.

Meanwhile, hearing of another case filed by M/s Mujahid Soap and Chemical Industries Private Limited against the Customs Appellate Tribunal was adjourned till March 9 as the court was set to hear identical matters on the same date.

M/s Mujahid Soap and Chemical Industries Private Limited had challenged customs department decision pertaining to import of goods and imposition of duty by the department what appellant termed as unlawful.
