IHC adjourns M/S Fauji Cement’s tax reference case against LTU

ISLAMABAD: A single bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned hearing of two tax references involving claims of outstanding tax amount of Rs 103.764 million.

IHC single bench comprising of Justice Aamer Farooq heard the matter filed by M/S Fauji Cement Company Limited.

The company had filed two different tax references seeking court’s directive on restricting Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), Islamabad from recovering outstanding tax amounts of Rs 871,215,960 and Rs 166,429,080.

The appellant had challenged two different LTU orders creating the demands of the said amounts. Both claims were made in account of income tax under provisions of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

LTU officers including chief commissioner, commissioner inland revenue, assistant commissioner inland revenue and federal board of revenue were made respondent in the cases.

The court had adjourned the hearing of both references till May 26.
