IHC directs ATIR to decide appeal filed by M/s Wateen Telecom within 60 days

ISLAMABAD: A single bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) to decide the appeal filed by M/s Wateen Telecom Limited within 60 days.

Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC issued these directives, adding that the FBR must abstain from recovering outstanding tax amount of Rs 28,398,147 from the appellant for the tax year 2008.

The appellant had challenged Large Taxpayers’ Units’s order, stating for recovering said amount in head of outstanding taxes for the year 2008 under sections 122(11) and 122(5) of the income tax ordinance, 2001.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), LTU’s Chief Commissioner, Commissioner Inland Revenue, Commissioner Inland Revenue (Audit), and ATIR were made party in the case.
