ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected a plea by Deputy Chairman Imtaiz Tajwar of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to quash first information report (FIR) registered by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against him on corruption charges. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC announced the judgment here, which he had reserved the other day.
During last hearing of the case, Deputy Attorney General Raja Khalid alleged that the accused had embezzled Rs 6.1 million while serving in National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) and returning of Rs 1 million by him proved his involvement in corruption. Tajwar, who is currently serving as NAB deputy chairman, prayed to the court to declare initiation of inquiry and registration of the FIR by FIA as unlawful.
