IHC stays recovery of Rs 375.2m from Wateen Telecom

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) restrained the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) from recovering outstanding tax amounting to Rs 375.22 million from Wateen Telecom Limited.

The appellant, Wateen Telecom Limited, had filed different tax petitions challenging the recovery claims and tax notices issued by the LTU.

The IHC issued the order while hearing one of those cases directed the LTU officers to decide M/S Wateen Telecom Limited’s application challenging recovery notice within 60 days.

The appellant had challenged a recovery order issue by the LTU on February 29, 2016 demanding Rs 375.22 million for the tax year 2009.  The order was issued under provisions of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), LTU chief commissioner, Inland Revenue (IR) chief commissioner, IR-Appeals commissioner and assistant commissioner were made respondents in the case.
