IHC to hear a tax reference filed by M/s Liberty Power today

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) is set to hear a tax reference till October 14 filed by M/s Liberty Power Limited on Friday (today).

IHC division bench comprising Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah had earlier adjourned hearing of the case. The bench would resume hearing on the case challenging recovery notice of Rs9.223 issued by Large Taxpayers’ Unit, Islamabad.

The bench had heard arguments from the appellant during last hearing before adjournment. The respondent had not arrived the court, however, had sought time from the court to appear and argue on matter.

The appellant had challenged a recovery order of Large Taxpayers’ Unit, (LTU) issued in May, 2016. LTU had issued the order stating the recoverable outstanding tax amount for the tax period of 2010-2012.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), LTU’s Commissioner Inland Revenue, Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue, Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Enforcement and ATIR were made party in the case.

The appellant had prayed the court to set aside the decision announced by ATIR and direct the LTU not to recover any amount taking any coercive action following the show cause notice.
