IHC to hear Liberty Power’ case against LTU today

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear a tax reference filed by M/s Liberty Power Limited on Friday.

A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah will hear the petition against recovery notice of Rs 9.223 million issued by the Large Taxpayers Unit, Islamabad.

The appellant had challenged the recovery order of LTU, issued in May, 2016. The LTU had issued the order to recover the outstanding tax amount for the tax period of 2010-2012.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), LTU Inland Revenue (IR) commissioner, deputy commissioner, IR Enforcement deputy commissioner and ATIR were made party in the case.

The appellant had prayed the court to set aside the decision announced by ATIR and direct the LTU not to recover any amount taking any coercive action following the show cause notice.
