Sources said that FBR has prepared the summary and already sent it to cabinet for approval regarding the rehabilitation of Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue (I&I IR) and expected to issue notification next week.

Sources said that Finance Act 2018 has given protection to the past actions of the Directorate General Intelligence & Investigation of Inland Revenue which would result in restoring proceedings against persons involved in sales tax evasion and cases framed under the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2010 and Directorate General Intelligence & Investigation Inland Revenue would have the authority to initiate proceedings against persons involved in tax evasion.

Sources further said that due to the caretaker setup the notification was delayed; however, now the new government has established and summary is forwarded so it is expected to issue notification next week.
