Illegal trade, tariff problems affecting Pak, Afghan trade volume: Mohsin

PESHAWAR: Vice Chairman Board of Investment and Trade Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Senator Mohsin Aziz said the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan have to remove the hurdles and problems that are affecting the trade volume between the two countries.

Presiding over a meeting of Post Afghanistan Review Committee here, he observed that the issue of tariff, illegal trade and a ban on access to duty free markets are a few hurdles that are hampering the trade volume between the two countries, said a press release issued here on Friday.

He said that security check posts and different other pickets on trade route were creating problems for the traders in supply of their goods, adding that slow registration process of the goods and different types of checking of the trade items were also affecting the trade.

The committee discussed the problems, issues and hurdles in strengthening of trade volume between the two countries and gave suggestions and recommendations.

The committee’s recommendations would be sent to the relevant departments of both countries for consideration as well as put before a committee constituted by the Afghanistan government for to strengthen the trade volume between the two countries.
