IMF representative hails FBR revenue collection measures

ISLAMABAD: Resident Representative of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Tokhir N Mirzoev met with Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha at FBR House.

According to the details, Chairman FBR has briefed him regarding the tax revenue collection measures for the current financial year and the implementation process on tax reforms.

He also briefed Tokhir Mirzoev about the current situation of the set tax revenue targets and said that FBR has achieved the set revenue targets for July and August of current financial year (2017-18).

Chairman FBR told IMF representative that FBR will achieve the set annual revenue target of FY 2017-18 and for this purpose all efforts are being made.

He also assured him that all tax reforms will be implemented. Country representative Tokhir N Mirzoev admitted that Pakistan’s economic position has improved sharply since it came close to default in 2013, but a number of challenges ahead.

He said the government would have to take steps to make up for lower-than-expected revenues in the first half of the year.
