KARACHI: The import of power generating machines has declined significantly by 26.13 percent during first half of the current fiscal year owing to improvement in availability of electricity in the country.
According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the import of power generating machines was at $1.24 billion during July – December 2017 as compared with $1.68 billion in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.
Market sources said with the improvement of electricity availability to industry as well as domestic consumers the reliance on power generating machines reduced.
The sources said the import of power generating will reduce further in days to come as the government is claiming more electricity to the national grid.
