Karachi: Importers, trade bodies seek increase in time for hearing of cases

KARACHI: The importers and other trade bodies have demanded the authorities concerned of MCC-Appraisement-West and MCC-Appraisement-East to increase the timings for hearing of the cases.

According to details, the importers were of the view that the authorities concerned of MCC-Appraisement-West and MCC-Appraisement-East have fixed the hearing timings up to 4pm daily for hearing the cases of importers, visitors and trade bodies. However, the business community was of the view that the importers in most of time do not attend the hearings of their cases as they were busy on any other location and when they returned to Custom House for attending their hearings, the timings are finished and they return empty handed.

The importers and clearing agents were of the view that the authorities concerned of the Collectorates should increase at least one-hour in timing of the hearing cases, so that they can easily attend the hearings on the same day when it was scheduled.

The importers and clearing agents have appealed the authorities concerned of both the Collectorates to increase the hearing cases timing schedule by one-hour.
