He assured that we will take up this issue with high-ups and all efforts would be made to resolve it. He said, “I believe there are only few black sheep involved in such kind of activities and the rest of the employees are honest and working with dedication”.

President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce Zahid Latif has said it is necessary for constructive business environment that issues of business community should be resolved on priority bases. Pakistani importers are paying huge duty and taxes, and the government should be realize their problems.

He suggested that complaints of importers should be addressed on urgent bases and if any employee of Customs I&I is found involved in misconduct and misused of powers, he should be dealt with according to law of the land. He said business community is united on all issues. Our focus is maximum utilization of our potential for elevating the status of our business community within the country and across the borders as well. Business community is the backbone of the economy and importers are sharing billion of rupees in national exchequer in the head of revenue.

It is important to mention here that importers from across the country have complained to the Chairman FBR that few staff members of Customs Intelligence during the patrolling on highways particularly Karachi to Lahore intentionally stop the lawfully cleared goods containers and demanded bribe from them.
