LAHORE: The business community announced to hold protest demonstrations against customs anti-smuggling organization from September 1.
The traders announced that the government should put checks on the smuggling activities at the borders instead of raiding in markets.
The traders held a meeting against the ASO under the chairmanship of Khawaja Amir Nazir in the Shah Alam Market along with other markets. The traders condemned the raids in the markets. A number of traders leaders and traders including Nadeem Hashmi, Readymade Garments President Umer Butt, Ashfaq Butt, Crockery Association president Hagi Farukh Iqbal, Rana Sana, Rana Mujahidul Islam, Rafique Butt were present on the occasion.
The traders urged the government that the smuggling should be prevented from the borders instead of raiding in the market. They warned that if raids are conducted in the market places there would be more hardships for the business.
