Imran Khan appears before NAB in helicopter case

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Peshawar on Tuesday in a case pertaining to the misuse of provincial government helicopters.

NAB’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa division is investigating the prime minister-in-waiting for causing Rs2.17 million loss to the provincial exchequer by using K-P government’s helicopter for over 175 hours.

Imran will be given a questionnaire before being questioned by a Combine Investigation Team (CIT). The accountability watchdog has already recorded statements of former K-P chief minister Pervez Khattak and four senior bureaucrats in the case.

Imran was summoned on July 18, however, he failed to appear before the panel sighting electioneering. His lawyer had filed an appeal requesting the accountability watchdog to fix the case after the general elections, “preferably on August 7.”

After appearing in NAB, Imran will head to a private hotel for PTI K-P parliamentary body’s meeting.
