Michael urges traders to take benefit of incentives at Gawadar Port
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Kamran Michael Monday said increased exports were vital for strengthening the national economy.
He said that the Gwadar Port had recently started its long-awaited operations for containerised shipment services with special focus on export of local fish to international markets.
“Around 10 days ago a shipment of 207 metric tonnes fish has been made, formally marking the start of exports from the Gwadar Port,” he added.
Michael urged industrialists to take benefit of incentives being provided at the Gwadar Industrial Free Zone for giving boost to local products.
There would be a great scope for diverse sectors like import and export, construction, transportation, shipping, clearing and forwarding, warehousing, building material, value added processing, textile and leather made-up garments and repackaging, he said.
Michael said the Gwadar Port would generate around two million jobs after it became fully functional, adding that a vocational training center was being set up there for skill development of local youth required for the employment
