Indian officials claimed in the complaint that the dam was being built in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, which is a disputed territory between India and Pakistan.

The United States hosted a one-day conference in Washington recently to help Pakistan to raise funds for the 4,500MW hydro-electric project.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also rejected the Indian objections on the Diamer-Bhasha dam.
