NEW DELHI: In a major drive against the sale of products made of plastics, below 40 microns in thickness, the corporation officials seized about Rs. 1 lakh worth of such products in the city bazaar.
Corporation health officials conducted raids at shops at Kammala Street, Allimal Street and Marakkadai areas to seize the plastic cups and carry bags, totally weighing about one ton.
Corporation commissioner M. Vijayalakhsmi, in a press release, said the raids would continue to prevent the use of the banned plastics in the city. About Rs. 3 lakh worth of plastic products have been seized by the Corporation officials in recent days, she added.
She appealed to the city residents to use only jute of cloth bags and avoid using products made of plastics below 40 microns in thickness.
