DHAKA: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has clutched two smugglers from Bangladesh along with gold of 3.5 kg in West Bengal here the other day.
“Troops of BOP Sutia of 26 Bn BSF received a specific input regarding smuggling of gold from Bangladesh to India in the bordering area of district North 24 Parganas,” the BSF said in a statement.
At about 4.50 PM, troops of BOP Sutia planned a special operation and intercepted one suspected person from village Sutia, namely Mrinmoy Biswas (28yrs) who was coming from the border area.
While carrying out the search operations, troops of BSF seized 30 gold biscuits approx weighed 3.5 Kg of approximate value of Rs. 1 crore.
Seized gold was handed over to custom office, Bongaon in West Bengal and the apprehended person was handed over to police station Bongaon.
On Thursday morning, troops of BOP Gopalganj along with Police from PS Gopalganj, district Malda, planned a special operation and intercepted one suspect namely Prosenit Mandal (20yrs).
Troops of BSF recovered one iron made improvised country-pistol along with three live rounds. Seized pistol and the apprehended person was handed over to police station Kaliachak.
