India customs seizes 1,644kg gold at Kochi airport

NEW DELHI: India customs seized 1,644kg gold at Kochi airport. The arrested smugglers have been identified as Subrahmani Murugavally, 50, Noor Mohammed Madheen, 54, and Alaudeen Mehraj Gam, 50, who had arrived by a Malindo flight from Kuala Lumpur at 04:30 am.

We took them into custody at the exit gate of the arrival hall on the basis of a tip-off. When asked whether they were carrying gold, initially they replied in the negative. Later, they revealed that they had gold concealed in their rectum,” Customs officials said.
