MUMBAI: The airport Customs detained actor and model Urvashi Rautela while she was leaving without declaring goods valued at about Rs 11.5 lakh. Customs officials let her off after five hours but seized the goods for examination.

Officials said they found Urvashi, who had arrived from Dubai, carrying dutiable goods worth Rs 3.5 lakh, which included pairs of expensive ladies footwear. She also had a diamond-studded gold jewellery piece worth Rs 8 lakh.

Urvashi claimed she carried the valuables along with her to Dubai. But when asked if she had informed the Customs before leaving for Dubai, she denied it. Officials were not convinced with her reply. She said she purchased the goods here at a discount but could not produce bills, an official said.

“We are investigating the details,” said additional commissioner (customs) Milind Lanjewar.
