India excise seizes 222kg dry ganja

NEW DELHI: The Special Task Force team of the Excise Department, Anakapalle, seized 222 kg of dry ganja and arrested four persons in this connection on Wednesday.

The arrested were identified as K. Lakshmana Rao, Pangi Laxmana Rao, M. Sreenivas, and G. Bheemesh.

The team, led by Inspector K.V. Papinaidu, also seized a van and a motorcycle from the accused.

On a tip-off, the team intercepted the vehicle at Gabada village near Narsipatnam and seized the contraband.

Mr. Papinaidu said the accused procured ganja from the interior parts of Chintapalle in the Agency are and were reportedly transporting it to Chennai.

In the last 15 days, the Special Task Force team seized about 3,800 kg of ganja, which is worth close to Rs. 4 crore in the open market.
