NEW DELHI: Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Kollam Excise circle arrested a 50-year-old man from Mulavana Kottapuram, near Kundara, after seizing 300 packets of ganja from him. The identity of the arrested man was given as Francis alias Bullet Salim.
Excise Circle Inspector J. Thajudeenkutty said Francis was involved in over 100 theft cases in various police stations across the State.
During a theft attempt he sustained a serious injury and had turned to ganja peddling since then.
Mr. Thajudeenkutty said that Francis had served several jail terms after being convicted in theft cases. He is also listed as accused in three ganja peddling cases.
The same Excise team arrested the manager of the Kundara toddy shop on charges of stocking toddy in excess of the quantity shown in the stock register.
A case has also been registered against the licensee of the toddy shop.
