EUROPE: However, if you’re in India, you’ll have to wait for the monsoon clouds to disperse, to enjoy the sight of the gorgeous meteor shower.
Scientists have reported that tonight there will be up to 100 meteors an hour in the night sky. Though this is the last day of the Perseid meteor shower, the chances of seeing this phenomenon are extremely high as there’s no moon out today to play spoilsport.
According to Click On Detroit, the best time to watch for the Perseids is between midnight and dawn, because this is when the part of the sky where the meteors originate from is above the horizon.
For all the astronomers and amateur constellation spotters, NASA in their press release says, “Look towards the familiar constellations Cassiopeia and Perseus in the northeast. They rise soon after sunset, but you will want to wait till they are higher in the sky to see the most meteors.”
According to NASA, the Perseids are a must-watch.
“The Perseids feature fast and bright meteors that frequently leave trains, and in 2015 there will be no moonlight to upstage the shower.”
Sadly, the skies along the western coast of our country are overcast which means we’ll probably miss out on all the action.
