India: Samsung  to introduce Z1 Tizen smartphone on 18 Jan with 512 MB RAM, 3.2 Mp cam in Rs 6000

NEW DELHI: Samsung Z1, the Tizen OS based smartphone will be released in India on 18th January according to a report in The Korea Economic Daily, which has quoted a Samsung official. The phone is said to have a price tag of under Rs 6000 for the Indian market.

Customers will be able to buy the Z1 Tizen phone via online retailers as well as through Samsung’s existing sales networks.

The Samsung Z1 Tizen phone will sport a 4-inch 480×800 pixel display, will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Spreadtrum SC7727S processor paired with 512MB of RAM. It will come with 3G, dual SIM capabilities, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS and 802.11n Wi-fi. It will run Tizen v2.3 out of the box.

On the camera front, the Z1 will get a 3.2MP rear camera with LED flash unit and a VGA front facing camera. The Z1 will have a 1500 mAh battery.

Telecom retailer Mahesh Telecom tweeted out details of the Samsung Z1 Tizen phone.

Looking at the price, the Samsung Z1 Tizen phone will be competing with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 1S or Asus Zenfone 4.  It is certainly targetted at the entry-level segment of the market.

Tizen is Samsung and Intel’s co-developed operating system which aims to reduce dependency on Google’s Android platform.

The Samsung Z1 is expected to launch in China in February and Korea in the first half of 2015.
