NEW DELHI: India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher. At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.39% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.44%. The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Limited (NS:HROM), which rose 3.12% or 116.40 points to trade at 3849.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 2.81% or 14.50 points to end at 530.05 and Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) was up 2.57% or 37.15 points to 1481.75 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which fell 1.95% or 8.00 points to trade at 402.35 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.92% or 14.20 points to end at 724.80 and Indiabulls (NS:INBF) was down 1.15% or 13.20 points to 1131.85. The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which rose 2.82% to 3840.00, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was up 2.63% to settle at 528.65 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which gained 2.13% to close at 357.25. The worst performers were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 1.47% to 402.30 in late trade, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which lost 1.27% to settle at 491.60 and POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.77% to 206.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 902 to 662 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1428 rose and 1195 declined, while 153 ended unchanged. The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.40% to 10.8100. Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.35% or 4.40 to $1262.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.50% or 1.21 to hit $47.15 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.51% or 1.27 to trade at $49.36 a barrel. USD/INR was up 0.09% to 64.442, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 72.3063. The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 97.16.
