KARACHI: President Dr Arif Alvi said that India’s illegal actions in occupied Kashmir threatened the overall security situation in South Asia.

Speaking at the inaugural brief of naval exercise ‘Shamsheer-e-Bahar VII’ and ‘Tarseel-e-Bahar II’ in Karachi, President Alvi said India wanted to sabotage the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar port projects, with its latest actions in occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan will continue to highlight the atrocities being perpetrated by Indian authorities in occupied Kashmir at every level until the crisis is resolved, he vowed.

The president, who was briefed on Pakistan Navy’s war and operational preparedness on the occasion, said the country’s defence was in safe hands and that he was proud of the armed forces.

Shamsheer-e-Bahar exercise is a biennial event conducted to analyse ideas that can later be made part of the naval strategy. Representatives from all the three services and ministries concerned are taking part in the exercise.
