HYDERABAD: Sleuths of the India Air Intelligence Unit at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport in Shamshabad have seized about 2.8 kg gold here the other day. An unidentified passenger, apparently scared of the consequences, is suspected to have left the ‘smuggled’ gold in the flight.
According to sources, the gold was being smuggled in a flight bound for Saudi Arabia. The accused was carrying about 25 gold biscuits with him/her and hid it under the seat.
However when the flight landed in Hyderabad, the accused was scared at the thought of being caught at the security check and left the gold in the flight. The AIU is yet to trace the passenger. Nobody has claimed the gold yet.
