NEW DELHI: Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) wanted help from customs department to investigate complex cases including financial crimes.

CBI Director, Anil Sinha, has written to Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) seeking nominations of eligible officers.

The agency, which is entrusted with probe of various economic offences, lacks officers with expertise in taxation and accounting-related matters which are needed for deciphering white-collar crimes.

“As you are aware that Central Bureau of Investigation is a predominantly deputationist organization, hence we keep requiring services of officers from different organizations for induction. This would be advantageous for both the organizations,” Sinha said in a letter to CBEC chairman Kaushal Srivastava.

The agency would utilize the expertise and experience of the officers for investigation of complex cases and after their repatriation, the experience gained by them in CBI would benefit the parent organizations, Sinha said while seeking nomination of Indian Revenue Service (customs and central excise) officials.

The CBI is looking for suitable officers with impeccable integrity to fill nine posts in the rank of superintendents of police on deputation basis. These posts are to be filled by officers other than those belonging to Indian Police Service.
