Indian citizens to pay property tax: Tax Dept

PUNE: Assistant Commissioner and Chief of Property Tax Department, Bhanudas Gaikwad, said that deadline to pay property tax has passed, now 15 divisional offices of department will be open till 6pm on Tuesday, and will stay open until the payment from the last person in the queue is collected.

Property Tax Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will conduct a drive to seize properties of tax defaulters.

Pre-seizure notices have been issued to property owners with dues over Rs 10,000, directing them to clear these arrears. If the tax is not paid, the civic administration will seize their properties in April.

There are 4.05 lakh properties registered in the municipal limits. Arrears of Rs 460 crore have to be recovered.

As many as 82,030 property holders have dues of more than Rs 10,000 each, with their total arrears amounting to Rs 422.24 crore.
