NEW DELHI: Special Courts in Visakhaptnam for CBI cases sentenced to former Customs Superintendent, Bhitravarapu Srikrishna, to endure three years jails and fine of Rs 20,000 in a bribery case under Sections 7 & 13(2) read with 13(1) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Investigation revealed that Srikrishna, while working as superintendent (preventive) in the customs & central excise department at Brodipet demanded a bribe of Rs.3,000 from the complainant who owns a cell phone shop at Brodipet as reward for not conducting a raid on his cell phone shop. A trap was laid and Srikrishna was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs.3,000 from the complainant.
The trial court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
