Indian currency recovers 10 paisas to Rs 63.90 against dollar

NEW DELHI: Forex dealers said a lower opening in the domestic equity markets and dollar’s strength against other currencies overseas capped the gains.

After sliding for three straight days, the rupee recovered 10 paise to 63.90 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Friday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on selling of the American currency by exporters and banks.

The Indian rupee had lost 10 paise to close at 64 against the greenback after plunging to a fresh 20-month low of 64.26 in Thursday’s trade.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell 84.16 points, or 0.31 percent, to 26,729.26 in early trade on Friday.
