NEW DELHI: Indian customs arrested a man for smuggling English liquor bottles from Haryana and selling them in city.
During festivities demand for liquor soars as wine shops remain closed on the festival day. A team of crime branch received tip-off from informers that Vinod Kumar who runs a transport business, had been selling smuggled English liquor. The informer also informed that a new consignment of liquor had arrived in the city. Acting on the information, Customs raided a house in GomtiNagar locality late night and arrested Vinod Kumar and recovered 12 cartoons of English liquor.
After the arrest, the accused told Customs that he ran a transport business and was aware of the safe routes to bring in smuggled liquor from other states. The accused also informed Customs he had been in the business for the last one year and feared that he would be caught if he did the business in partnership.
