NEW DELHI: A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valued at about Rs 62 lakh at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here.
The accused was intercepted by customs officials after his arrival here from Dubai on Monday. On detailed examination of his baggage and personal search, gold bars weighing about 2.5 kgs were recovered, a press release issued today by the customs said.
The value of the gold is assessed to be Rs 62.27 lakh, it said adding that the passenger, who lives in Delhi, has been arrested.
