NEW DELHI: Over hundred cargo trucks have been barred from entering Nepal after India tightened security at Nepalgunj-Rupaidiya entry point. Some of the vehicles that are hauling fuel have also been stuck at the Indian side of the border.
Jamunaha Police Office informed that the freight has been stuck on the other side after the Indian custom refused to provide pass to the vehicles.
Indian custom officials, citing ‘orders from above’, refused to issue passes to cargo vehicles entering Nepal since 4 pm on Tuesday. Banke Chief District Officer, Bed Prakash Lekhak said that India has created a new issue by refusing to provide pass.
India, after controlling the export of fuel, is now also controlling the cargo freight.
