AMRITSAR: Due to widespread anti-Pakistan sentiment in India following the Dinanagar terror attack, Border Security Force (BSF) didn’t exchange sweets with Pakistan on August 15, while the customs department in Amritsar did just that on Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14.
Assistant commissioner, customs, integrated check post, Amanjit Singh confirmed having received sweets from their Pakistani counterparts but refused to give further details.
While BSF took a stand not to exchange sweets with Pakistan on the occasions of Pakistan as well as India’s Independence Day celebrated on August 14 and 15 respectively at the Attari land border as a mark of protest against Pakistan, the customs departments’ friendlier gesture has attracted severe condemnation from within the administrative circles.
Intelligence sources informed that they had taken the issue seriously and sent a detailed report to the central government.
