AMRITSAR: Indian customs department officials destroyed 155kg heroin, valued at around Rs 775 crore in the international market.
Principal Commissioner, customs department, Sunil Kumar Sawhney, said that the narcotic was seized by customs and directorate of revenue intelligence in nine different cases during the 2007-08 and 2013-14 periods.
The heroin was destroyed in a waste treatment unit by incarceration in the presence of three-member team of senior customs officials, including additional commissioner Nitin Saini, Deputy Commissioner, Sundar LaL and Assistant Commissioner, Balvinder Singh, added Sawhney.
