MUMBAI: Indian customs foiled an attempt to smuggle 44 kg of marijuana worth Rs o.4 million at Kalwa station.

According to the customs officials, Mohammad Khan (28), a resident of Nerul used to sell vegetables during the day and smuggle drugs at night. ”We learnt from our informers that the accused would be coming to Mumbra station with a drug consignment. Initially, the cops confiscated just 22.9 kg drugs. But on grilling him further, the cops found the remaining drugs at his house. The cops suspect Khan to be one of the peddlers and the main kingpin is still at large. Investigations are on and we are trying to find out whether Khan was involved in other cases.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS act. Last week, a shopkeeper, Datta Shinde, was arrested for allegedly smuggling nearly 4.3 kg of Marijauna worth Rs 34,960 at Wagle Estate.
