NEW DELHI: A ground handling staff of Air India SATS is among two persons arrested for allegedly smuggling gold worth Rs.48.75 lakh at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
Air India SATS is a joint venture between Air India Limited and SATS Limited, which is a gateway services and food solutions provider in Asia. The arrested staff member has been identified as Ramavadh Singh Kushwaha. The customs officials also nabbed his associate Asif Ali Khan, a Delhi resident. The duo was in transit to board another flight to Dubai. The customs department said Kushwaha was intercepted by them while he was exiting from a gate in the departure hall with two kilos of gold.
A senior official alleged that the bag belonged to his associate Khan who was subsequently nabbed.
