PANAJI: Gold smugglers are keeping the air-intelligence wing, of the commissionerate of customs in Goa, busy as sleuths seized unclaimed 349g of gold worth 8.60 lakh at the Dabolim international airport on Sunday.
This is the second gold seizure in a week’s time. A customs official said that three gold biscuits were found under an empty seat during a regular inspection. Officials suspect that the gold was smuggled in from Dubai as the random search was conducted after a Dubai-Goa-Bangalore flight landed in Goa.
Goa international airport has become a popular destination for gold smugglers as corroborated with the several seizures at the airport. 349g of gold worth 8.27 lakh was seized from two smugglers at the Goa International Airport at Dabolim.
