MOGA: The district police claimed to have arrested four notorious drug smugglers with 1.5 kg heroin from various places here the other day. Four vehicles also were impounded in this connection. According to the police, the contraband is worth Rs 7 crore in the international market.
Jaspal Singh Dhami, in-charge of the Moga narcotic and drug cell said that the police had got a tip-off that some drug smugglers had entered the district for selling heroin in the area.
“Following the tip-off, we barricaded the main entry points across the district under the supervision of senior police officials. When a special police party stopped a Swift car near Badduwal village under Dharamkot subdivision, the car driver tried to flee from the spot, but the police party nabbed him after a short chase. During search, we found 500 gram heroin from the possession the occupant of the car identified as Ranjit Singh of Kot-Mohammad-Khan,” said the police official.
