Indian police arrest 6 red sanders smugglers

TAMIL NADU: The Chittoor Task Force police on Saturday night and Sunday morning arrested six red sanders smugglers from Tamil Nadu from two locations in the district. They also seized three SUVs and red sanders logs worth over Rs. 25 lakh from them.

Additional SP (Red Sanders Operations) Ms. Y. Ratna and Task Force DSP Mr. Giridhar, addressing the media here on Sunday, said on Saturday night, three smugglers from Vellore in Tamil Nadu – Muthu Sethu, 40, Muthu Surya, 18, and Selvakumar, 29 – were arrested from Gudipala on the Chittoor-Tamil Nadu border, and three SUVs and red sanders logs were seized from them.

Meanwhile, three smugglers from Salem in Tamil Nadu were taken into custody from Pakala, 35 km from Chittoor town on Sunday morning.

The trio was travelling in an RTC bus from Tirupati to Vellore when they were nabbed. Officials said investigation was on.
