Indian police arrest three culprits with gold, silver

INDORE: Khandwa police arrested three persons carrying gold and silver worth Rs 70 lakh from Indore to Maharashtra on Tuesday morning.

“A man and his two drivers were arrested from Indore-Ichhapur highway and 2.383 kg gold and 30 kg silver was seized from their possession. Two gold biscuits and several silver bricks were seized. The trio were allegedly taking it to Akola in Maharashtra,” said Rakesh Kumar Puri, Chegaon Makhan police station in-charge.

The accused, on interrogation, claimed that he was a goldsmith and had bought the gold and silver from an Indore-based trader Neelesh from Sheeshmahal area.

On being asked about the receipt of the transaction, the accused claimed that he had paid only half the amount and so did not have the receipt, said Puri.

“All three have been arrested and the car has also been seized. Further investigations in the case are on,” said Puri.
