NEW DELHI: One hundred kg of illegally stored marijuana was seized from a flat in an apartment building in Berhampur Sadar police station area here the other night.
This is the second major seizure of illegal marijuana from rented houses in the city suggesting that Berhampur is the major transit point of marijuana illegally grown in remote areas of south Odisha for its transportation outside Odisha and other parts of the State.
According to police sources, a quarrel between youths involved in the illegal ganja racket let to the unearthing of this illegal marijuana storage point on Saturday night.
Unruly behaviour of these youths and their tussle with some outsiders had prompted the inhabitants of the apartment building to call up police that led to seizure of narcotics.
Four suspected persons including three youths and a minor were rounded up from the spot.
They are being interrogated. The seized marijuana was kept in 25 sealed packets. Some youths had taken this flat on rent for their nefarious activity.
Around 1,700 kilograms of marijuana illegally stored in a house in Berhampur was seized by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on June 3 night during a joint raid by NCB teams from Kolkata and Bhubaneswar.
