ALWAR: Indian police seized a 20,000 kg of explosives at Dusariyapura village in Dholpur district and nabbed two culprits, acting on the tip-off here the other day.
The police seized nearly 20,000 kg of explosives which are used for mining. The haul includes 16,000 kg of ammonium nitrate, 800 detonators and nearly 3,450 gelatine rods. The police have also arrested two persons in this connection.
A team of Dholpur police raided a house where explosives were being unloaded from a truck and jeep.
“These explosives are used in the illegal mining in the region. We got a concrete tip-off that a big haul of explosives was to be unloaded on Wednesday evening at a house. After verifying facts, a team raided the house and seized the explosives,” said Rajesh Singh, superintendent of police, Dholpur on Wednesday.
The seized ammonium nitrate is manufactured at Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Private limited situated in Pune. “We have also arrested two persons including Mahaveer Singh (41) and Pappu (38). We have also registered a case against the owner of the house, identified as Man Singh,” said Singh.
According to the police, many in the Mewat region including Alwar and Bharatpur and also the ravines of Dholpur are into illegal mining. Though the police have seized explosives in the past, but they were not able to nab the real culprits behind the illegal mining.
