MUMBAI: The Kadapa Police here the other morning nabbed two notorious red sanders smugglers at Sivaji Nagar of Obulavaripalle mandal in Kadapa district and seized three tonnes of high quality red sanders logs, with a market value of more than Rs. 6 crore.
Superintendent of Police Naveen Gulati and ASP (Pulivendula) K.K.N. Anbhurajan produced the accused, along with the seized logs and vehicles before the media in Kadapa. The accused have been identified as Bodde Venkata Ramana alias Pedda Venkata Ramana (38) from Bhakrapet village of Vontimitta mandal in Kadapa district; and Thammineni Babu (37) of Chinthapudi village of Pellakur mandal in Nellore district.
The SP said that the duo were the main associates of notorious international smugglers Fayaz and Riyaz from Katiganahalli in Karnataka and they had links with Delhi-based smugglers too.
