Indian police seize 50kg of ganja worth Rs. 5 lakh

MUMBAI: The Sivaganga police on Sunday night arrested four persons at Tirumayam and seized 50 kg of ‘ganja’ worth about Rs. 5 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off about the smuggling of the narcotic substance, a team led by Lakshmi, Inspector of Police, intercepted a vehicle near the fort in Tirumayam on the Pudukottai – Sivaganga highway and arrested P. Ayyappan (35) of Madurai, N. Kaviyarasan (25) of Ramnathapuram, P. Duraimurugan (27) of Ramanathapuram and M. Maragadavel (30) of Madurai. A case under Section 8 (c) read with 20 (b) (ii) (c) and Sec. 29 (i) and Sec. 25 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
