Indian police seize illicit mephedrone worth Rs 10 lakh

MUMBAI: Indian police have seized125 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 10 lakh and arrested an alleged supplier of (MD) drug here the other day.

The suspected supplier of MD has been identified as Asif Iqbal Shaikh, 26, resident of Yusuf Manzil building at Pydhonie. He has been booked under section 328 of the Indian Penal Code for causing hurt by means of poison.

According to the police, they had received a complaint that Shaikh has been making people in Dongri area addicted to MD. Anticipating that Shaikh could force other youths from the area into drug addiction the police immediately registered a case against him in this regard.

On receipt of specific information, the police apprehended Shaikh from near Sandhurst Road railway station. The police had seized 125 grams of powdered substance believed to be MD worth Rs 10 lakh, electronic weighing machine and a dual sim card mobile phone from him.
